Silo City conversion work to start this summer

A development team is proposing to turn a series of silos and grain mills overlooking the Buffalo River into a residential complex and artist’s colony.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The development team proposing to turn a series of silos and grain mills overlooking the Buffalo River into a residential complex and artist’s colony say the $70 million project could begin by mid-summer.

Miami-based Generations Development Group, in conjunction with Rigidized Metals Co. owner and Silo City founder Rick Smith, learned their still-to-be-named project cleared a hurdle when the Buffalo Planning Board officially approved the project at its Dec. 16 meeting.
