ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Bills fans already knew that offensive tackle Spencer Brown had been fined for unsportsmanlike conduct during last week's win against the Indianapolis Colts. He broke that news Wednesday on social media.
Brown's fine for taunting, officially, was $11,255. But he wasn't the only one in Buffalo's locker room who's a little lighter in the wallet today.
The NFL on Saturday afternoon announced that one of Brown's teammates, defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, was fined $6,722 for unsportsmanlike conduct — specifically, taunting — following second-quarter play in the Bills' 30-20 victory last Sunday in Indianapolis.
Another play from Sunday's game resulted in a fine, this one on the Colts. Defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo drew a $10,919 fine for unnecessary roughness, for what the NFL deemed striking/kicking/kneeing. Odeyingbo was not flagged during the game for this play:
While former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has offered to pay fines for Brown and linebacker Joe Andreessen the past two weeks, that's not the case with Phillips, and he provided a reason for that.
The NFL announces player fines every Saturday afternoon during the season. For Week 10, there were 27 plays resulting in fines for on-field discipline during 2,462 total plays.
