VARYSBURG, N.Y. — All sorts of businesses have been preparing for some time for the April 8 total solar eclipse.
The Buffalo Bisons and NASA will host an event. There will be watch parties and all sorts of scenic locations like state parks and campgrounds where people can throw on their protective eyewear and take in the rare event. There's even a beer to drink on the big day.

So, how about a tree-lined golf course for the celestial event? That's what Byrncliff Golf Resort & Banquets in Varysburg is offering people with their eclipse viewing party from noon to 4 p.m., featuring music, food, beverage specials, golf, miniature golf, and more.
Varysburg will experience an estimated 3 minutes, 32 seconds of a total eclipse.
Byrncliff employees have gone through training sessions and webinars to help educate people who attend the event.
"There are so many reasons to come to Byrncliff," Lindsay Eddy, vice president of sales and marketing for the family-owned resort, said in a statement. "The Byrncliff Total Eclipse on The Green experience is all encompassing."
Byrncliff will also host family-friendly events a day before the total solar eclipse, including a self-guided scavenger hunt into the forest and by the golf course, miniature golf, its 18-hole golf course, plus food and beverage specials.
If you want to view the eclipse, like many others across North America, make sure you have properly certified solar glasses to do so safely.
According to NASA, roughly 31.6 million people live in the 2024 path of totality, representing a big jump from to 12 million in the path of the 2017 eclipse. "An additional 150 million people live within 200 miles of the path of totality," NASA said.
