Buffalo Animal Shelter closed due to nearby gas leak

Shelter officials say the animals are safe and National Fuel crews are working to repair the leak.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Animal Shelter in downtown Buffalo that was closed Wednesday due to nearby gas leak will also be closed on Thursday.

There's no word on what caused the gas leak, which prompted an emergency gas line repair on the exterior of the building.

Shelter officials say the animals are safe and National Fuel crews are working to repair the leak. The staff also installed temporary electric heaters that will used until gas service fully returns.

We are unexpectedly closed due to a gas leak outside of the shelter. The animals are safe and crews are working now! Sorry for the inconvenience.
