Winter Storm Watch issued for parts of WNY

Heavy snow begins Friday in the Southern Tier and will remain until Monday.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, and Southern Erie counties from Friday morning through Monday morning.

There is a growing chance of heavy lake effect snow starting as early as Friday morning and lasting into Monday.

Snow could be very heavy at times and travel could become very difficult.

This winter storm watch does not include the Buffalo metro as it appears that the heaviest lake effect snows will be focused South of the Buffalo metro.

Travel could be impacted as early as Friday with periods of snow and a wandering lake effect snow band all the way through the weekend.

Many areas in this watch could see over a foot of snow.

Storm Team 2 will continue to keep this story updated.
