CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — On Friday colder air arrives and lake effect snow begins, well south of Buffalo.
A Lake Effect Snow Warning has been issued for Southern Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, and Allegany counties from Friday morning 7 a.m. through Monday 7 p.m. Multiple feet of snow possible in some spots.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Northern Erie county and Genesee county from Saturday morning 7 a.m. until Monday early morning 1 a.m. Less than a foot of snow, with the higher amounts into central Erie county, lower amounts north.
A Winter Weather Advisory in effect for McKean county in N. PA from 4am Friday to 7am Saturday.
There is a growing chance of heavy lake effect snow starting as early as Friday morning and lasting into Monday, with lake bands setting up mainly east and southeast of Lake Erie.
Many areas in this warning could see 1 to even 3 feet of snow, localized are possible under the heaviest most persistent lake bands over the course of three days and especially over higher terrain.
Snow could be very heavy at times and travel could become very difficult.
Travel could be impacted as early as Friday with periods of snow and wandering lake effect snow bands all the way through the weekend.
