BUFFALO, N.Y. — Storm Team 2 expected a heavy dose of rain on Saturday, and that's exactly what the City of Buffalo got.

In fact, the National Weather Service reported that 1.66 inches of rain fell in Buffalo on Saturday. That's a new daily record for June 29, surpassing the old mark of 0.84 inches in 1897.

The weather was a little more extreme to the south, where Potter and McKean counties had a Tornado Watch and a Flood Watch at certain points of the day Saturday.

With more rainfall in the forecast, the National Weather Service said it would provide an update on the record total some time past midnight. It said early Sunday morning that the final tally was 1.66 inches.
