BUFFALO, N.Y. — Saturday is shaping up to be a very active day across Western New York, which is why a Weather Impact Alert Day has been issued.
Periods of rain will impact much of the day and some of the rain could be quite heavy at times. Thunderstorms expected.

There is also a threat of severe storms with torrential downpours, strong gusty winds, and there is a small chance of a tornado, especially for those across Southern Tier, into northern Pennsylvania.
In fact, there is a Tornado Watch had been om effect until 8 p.m. Saturday for Potter and McKean counties, but it was allowed to expire well before 5 p.m. A Flood Watch has also been canceled.
The greatest threat for severe weather will come in the afternoon.
High temperatures will be in the 70s with high levels of humidity leading to the heavy rain potential with some totals nearing 1 inch to 2 inches, or even greater in areas south.
Drier and comfortable conditions are expected to return on Sunday.
