BUFFALO, N.Y. — Strong thunderstorms moved through Western New York on Sunday afternoon, and the National Weather Service had a Wind Advisory in place for Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming and Erie counties that expired until 11 p.m.
In addition, a Lakeshore Flood Advisory for Erie and Chautauqua counties expired at 11 p.m.
Southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with wind gusts up to 50 mph, are expected. The strongest wind gusts are expected during the late afternoon and early evening, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service warns that gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, adding that tents and temporary outdoor structures may be damaged by strong winds.
A few tree limbs could also be blown down, resulting in power outages.
