BUFFALO, N.Y. — President Donald Trump has declared a major disaster exists in New York State following severe storms, winds, and flooding on October 31 and November 1.
The declaration makes federal funding available to state, tribal and local governments for emergency work or replacement facilities damaged by storms in Chautauqua and Erie counties.
Emergency crews and first responders dealt with several calls of trees down and severe flooding as strong winds and heavy rain moved through Buffalo and Western New York during that time.
Hoover Beach in Hamburg suffered serious damage from flooding and debris that washed up onshore.
Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
