BUFFALO, N.Y. — After setting a record high Sunday and Monday, Buffalo has broken another record high Tuesday. The record high for the day was 69 degrees set in 1975 and the temperature in Buffalo officially surpassed that at 10 am with a reading of 71 degrees at the airport. Since then, the temperature has continued to climb into the mid 70s.
November 2020 is also now tied with several other Novembers, 1990, 1977 and 1956, for the most days with a high of at least 70 degrees. The current count is 3 days but no more are in the near-term forecast. That said, there are still several weeks left in the month.
This warm pattern is spread over much of the country. A strong, upper level ridge in the jet stream and complementary surface high pressure will keep clear and mild temperatures across much of the Great Lakes, Northeast and East Coast for several days.
A cold front will move through on Wednesday, but even that may not bring much of a wintry blow to the weather pattern. Temperatures will certainly be cooler, but think low 50s for afternoon highs, not low 30s. That's pretty typical for the first half of November.
This will be an interesting trend to keep an eye on as we get closer to the start of astronomical winter. Remember, this past summer was one for the hottest on record for Buffalo and several other Great Lakes cities.
