WATCH: NYSDOT plows struck by vehicles

In 10 days, two of their plows have been struck by vehicles on area highways.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Transportation is issuing a message to motorists to be careful of plow trucks on the roadway.

In 10 days, two of their plows have been struck by vehicles on area highways.

The most recent one happened Thursday on I-86 in Chautauqua County.  A state plow was struck by a tractor trailer.

State officials say no one was seriously hurt and they urge motorists to stay alert when driving near plows.

🚨URGENT REMINDER🚨 It’s been just over a week since we shared the video of a car crashing into a NYSDOT plow. Yesterday, a tractor-trailer did the same on I-86 in Chautauqua County. Thankfully, no serious injuries occurred. Remember to slow down and stay alert when driving near snow plows. #DontCrowdThePlow

On November 29,  a similar incident happened near Rochester when a vehicle tried to get ahead of a plow on an on-ramp.  Again, no serious injuries.

Near Rochester, a car recently tried to outpace a snowplow—thankfully, there were no injuries. Remember, these powerful machines need space because collisions can be disastrous. #DontCrowdThePlow
