BUFFALO, N.Y. — As we begin what could be snowy winter ahead many people may need to remember that they share the roads alongside plows who are trying to help communities travel safely.
The New York State Department of Transportation reminds drivers every year to "don't crowd the plow."
People can read this as well in relation to the campaign on their website "to ensure the safety of both motorists and snowplow operators, New York State's Safe Winter Driving campaign aims to prevent crashes and fatalities by reminding drivers to give snowplow trucks plenty of room on the road."
Plows are not meant to slow travelers down but rather maximize safety while on the road.
On Facebook the NYS DOT posted a video showing those who do not give the plows space of an accident that recently occurred. The video can be viewed below and those involved were not hurt.
