Buffalo crews are filling potholes across the city

Five Department of Public Works crews moved around the city Sunday, patching rough spots on major thoroughfares.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The City of Buffalo on Sunday held its third pothole blitz of the season.

Overall, five Department of Public Works crews moved around the city, patching rough spots on major thoroughfares.

Nate Marton, Buffalo's commissioner of public works, said paving plants could open up early, thanks to the mild winter that we've seen across the region. He added that the city is already planning on which roads may get repaved this year.

"We've got a scale, 1 to 10, kind of where they fall on the rankings," Marton said, "so we assess those and propose what we're going to do in each council district and go from there."

You can call 311 to report a pothole. Marton said the city attempts to respond within 48 hours, as long as  weather permits.

The city's pothole patrol was also out in early February, taking advantage of a break in wintry weather to get a jump-start on some problem areas.
