Buffalo, Albany mayors make friendly food wager over NLL Finals

The Bandits won the best-of-3 series, which makes Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown a winner with his friendly food wager.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The last time Byron Brown placed a friendly wager with another mayor over a sporting event was back in January, when the Buffalo Bills hosted a playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mayor Brown lost that bet and sent a platter of Buffalo wings from downtown Buffalo's Deco Lounge.

Now he put up another plate of wings, with the Buffalo Bandits preparing for a best-of-3 series in the National Lacrosse League Finals against the Albany FireWolves.

Mayor Brown put up a platter of wings from LaNova Pizzeria.

On the other end, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan offered up a platter of cheesecake from Cheesecake Machismo and a bottle of ALB Vodka made by Albany Distilling Company. That vodka is served at Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium, and on JetBlue flights.

The Bandits took the series in two games, winning Friday night in Albany and Saturday night at KeyBank Center.
