ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The NFL on Saturday fined Texans tight end Dalton Schultz for a penalty he drew during Houston's 23-20 home win against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5.
Schultz drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for taunting on the second play of the second half, when he caught a 2-yard pass on a first down. He got up, then rolled the ball toward Bills defenders, which drew the flag.
That eight-play, 41-yard drive consumed 3 minutes, 45 seconds and eventually ended with a 47-yard field goal by Ka'imi Fairbairn, giving the Texans a 20-3 lead.
The NFL announces player fines each Saturday afternoon during the regular season. The league issued fines for on-field discipline on 29 plays — out of 2,343 total plays — in Week 5.
Bills fines from the NFL this season include:
- Week 1, O'Cyrus Torrence, unnecessary roughness (facemask), $7,855
- Week 4, Dawuane Smoot, unnecessary roughness (striking/kicking/kneeing), $8,156
The Bills end a three-game road trip against the New York Jets in East Rutherford, N.J.
