A Western New York family has a big connection to the Chiefs

Western New York native Mitchell Reynolds works for the Chiefs in a management role.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The red and gold of Chiefs Kingdom proudly waves at a home in the Western New York town of Boston.

That is because the Reynolds family's son is Mitchell Reynolds. He is a 2006 Iroquois High School graduate who has spent 13 seasons as the senior operations director for the Kansas City Chiefs. He handles travel, lodging, and food contracts for the team

His mom, Lisa Reynolds, explained that Mitchell's granddad was a Bills videographer and Mitchell, with his sports management degrees, liked NFL work so "grandpa was an 'in,' and he went to school for sports management and sports administration and worked for the Bills for a little while.

"When the Bills had their lockout, he put his resume across 32 teams, and the Chiefs scooped him up, and he's worked his way up ever since."

So now Lisa can sport the Super Bowl rings along with her grandkids. She and her husband get to two games at Arrowhead Stadium a season, and through their son, they have been to two Super Bowls.

She described the experience as "crazy good, exciting, to the bitter, bloody, nail-biting end. Surreal."

Lisa also talked about her experience living and working in Bills' country.

"They're diehard Bills, but they accept me with the situation. We have to root for them. It's family," she said.

No, she did not meet Taylor Swift. But Lisa says she feels Buffalo and Kansas City are really a lot alike with Midwestern hospitality and good people.

"You get your door opened for you. Everything is 'please' and 'thank you' and 'ma'am,' in a good way," Lisa said.

And with this final thought from Lisa, with perhaps inside info from her son, 2 On Your Side's Ron Plants asked, "What's your prediction for the game?"

Reynolds replied, "27-14 Chiefs."

We'll see what happens on Sunday evening, but Lisa and her family proudly know their son will be hard at work for an NFL franchise.
