Josh Allen plays just 1st quarter of Bills preseason opener

Most of the Bills starters saw varied amount of action throughout 1st half against the Bears.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Sean McDermott is a man of his word.

The Bills head coach said the other day that Josh Allen and other starters would play about a quarter of the preseason opener against the Bears.

Allen literally pulled as the clock hit zero of the first  quarter Saturday. He finished completed 2 of 3 passes for 22 yards, as well as a 7-yard scramble. The run was Allen's final play, which did end with a slide.

The rest of the offensive starters finished out their second series with Mitch Trubisky under center.

On defense, most of the starters only saw the field for one series. Matt Milano and Von Miller did not play.

Ed Oliver got hurt on the first play of the game. He spent some time in the blue medical tent with a knee injury, but was later cleared.

Points tough to come by for both teams, with Chicago leading at halftime 6-3.

The Bears found the end zone in the second half on both sides of the ball.

First, Velus Jones Jr. had a 4-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter.

Early in the fourth, Micah Baskerville intercepted a Shane Beuchele pass and returned it 53 yards for a TD.

Chicago won the game 33-6.

Next up on the preseason schedule for the Bills is traveling to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers next Saturday night.
