BUFFALO, N.Y. — Not only are fans preparing for Sunday's game, but so are area businesses.
Game days typically are busier and bring out a lot of fans. The Chippewa Block Party is returning on Sunday. It's a gathering to watch the Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins game.
The block party started three years ago, which Chris Ring with the Rec Room says brings a ton of business to bars on the block. So Sunday, Ring says they're closing the streets, setting up a 15-foot video wall, having live sound, a DJ between commercial breaks, and food and drink specials. Ring says they always try to do this on high-profile away games.
Bills fans are expecting to pack out Miami's stadium. Ring is still expecting to see many fans at the party.
"The Bills Mafia is insane, and it's nationwide. A lot of people have already moved out to Florida. So, there's alot of local Buffaloians down in Florida. What we have here is the best stadium-like experience that you're going to have anywhere. 1000 plus Bills fans are expected to come down here and cheer the guys on as they 'Squish the Fish.' So, we're confident we'll have a really good turnout," says Chris Ring.
Ring is the host of the Chippewa block party. He's also a partner in Rec Room. Rec Room is a popular nightclub in Chippewa.
To join the party, it's $15, and it'll get you into all five participating bars. Tickets can be found here.
However, we all like flocking to pizza places for pizza and wings on game days. It usually overwhelms some places with constant orders coming in. At Bocce's Club Pizza, phones have been ringing off the hook! Saucing the busy weekend is General Manager Mark Daniels.
"We're treating this like a playoff game, basically. All hands on deck. A lot of prep throughout the weekend," Daniels says.
For 25 years, Daniels has sliced through numerous football seasons, which he says has always been fun but busy for him.
Keelin: "How many pizzas do you think you make on a day like that?
Daniel: "On a game like that? Maybe like 600. About 1,000 pounds of wings."
Daniels continues, "Pizza and football go together. So I think people expect us to be busy. Everyone's thinking of the same thing on the same day."
To experience the pressure at a pizza place on game day, 2 On Your Side's Keelin Berrian jumped into the pizza-making action.
Keelin: "It's game day; you have a lot of orders coming in. How does it look like? Is it a chain?"
Mark: "Yes. There are people lined up making orders. We got stacks of order slips all over the place, people saucing over here."
Daniels says it's best to pre-order ahead of time. If you are one who doesn't like waiting, you can order a half-baked pizza. Then finish cooking it at your home.
"Working here, you got to get used to the pressure. We're so busy all of the time. Make sure you're telling people on the phone how much to give them so they don't come too early or too late for their food," Daniels says.
The game is on Sunday. You can catch it on Channel 2.
