FIRST QUARTER
After the Bills defense shuts things down on Washington's opening drive, the Bills drive 54-yards over eight plays capping it with Josh Allen connecting wth Cole Beasley for a six-yard TD. The Bills made a concerted effort to get rookie running back Devin Singletary involved early. Singletary had 4-carries for 26-yards on the opening drive. The Bills had the ball first and goal at the 2 on their next drive before going into self-destruct mode on three consecutive plays that were a combination of sack and blown assignments. They settled for a 42-yard FG capping a 12-play 66-yard drive that gave them a 10-0 lead.
SECOND QUARTER
Washington goes to the ground game and Adrian Peterson driving 71-yards over eight plays. They have to settle for a field goal to cut the Bills lead to 10-3. The Bills respond with another scoring drive Special teams got things started as Andre Roberts returned the kickoff 66-yards. Allen led the Bills the reamaining 39-yards, punching it in himself on the keeper after the Bills couldn't run it in three times on first and goal. Bufflalo opened a 17-3 lead. Washington moves the ball again before halftime with Adriian Peterson again running the ball well. Dustin Hopkins caps it with a 33-yard field goal with :32 left in the half, cutting the Bills lead to 17-6.
THIRD QUARTER
The Bills come out moving the ball, but turn it over on downs not able to convert on a 4th and one at the Washington 24. The Redskins aren't able to take advantage as the Bills defense forced another punt. The Bills were unable to move the ball and after a poor punt, the Redskins were able to take advantage of the short field and connect on a 39-yard field goal from Dustin Hopkins to cut the lead to 17-9 with 1:21 left in the third quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
Neither offense is able to move the ball effectively. The Bills are still struggling to connect on the deep ball as Josh Allen underthrew Robert Foster on 3rd and 9. The Bills defense is able to keep the Redskins at bay with the teams trading punts into the fourth quarter. The Bills dodged a bullet with Josh Allen fumbling on a carry and Buffalo recovering. Buffalo pinned the Redskins deep in their own territory on a punt, and the defense, courtesy of a Tre' White sack of Haskins on 3rd down force Washington to punt from their own end zone. The Bills took possession just inside the 50, After a holding penalty, Allen converted a 3rd and 18 with a gain of 23 on a pass to John Brown. Devin Singletary was able to cap the drive with a 2-yard TD that allowed the Bills to extend their lead to 24-9 with 2:21 remaining.
