The Savannah Bananas asking fans to return tickets they might not be using for Buffalo games

The Bananas recently sent a letter to some fans asking them to volunteer to surrender their tickets in Buffalo.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Savannah Bananas will be in Buffalo next week and fans are excited to see them play.

Tickets went on sale in May by a lottery system. According to the Savannah Bananas, 15,000 tickets were sold for each game on July 5, 6, and 7. They are all general admission.

The Bananas recently sent a letter to some fans, asking them to volunteer to surrender their tickets in Buffalo.

While they don't give the exact reason why, they do say in the letter they want to deliver the best fan experience.  "Over time and after hundreds of games, we're realizing it is much more difficult to deliver a top tier fan experience under this model. To ensure that everyone has a fun, safe, and memorable Banana Ball experience in Buffalo, we need a little help from you and we’ve got an idea that we think will make it worth it for you."

For fans willing to surrender their tickets, they'll move your tickets to your choice of Banana Ball game in Philadelphia or Miami.

  • Saturday, September 21 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
  • Saturday, October 12 at loanDepot park in Miami.
  • Or they will credit your account for the same amount of tickets in 2025.

The reaction on social media Thursday has not been positive so far. On Facebook, Kari wrote, "They want to pay for my airfare and hotel in Miami or Philly, as well? Otherwise, I'm keeping my tickets."

And Samantha replied saying, "Exactly what I said. Oh here are better tickets to a game 500-plus miles and three months away or you can wait until next summer and hope we'll be back and not have this problem again."

When contacted by 2 On Your Side, The Savannah Bananas issued this statement:

“We wanted to give people the opportunity to return tickets they wouldn't be using back to the Bananas for a full face value refund or a credit for later - being a holiday weekend, we were being contacted a lot that people's plans were changing and we want to get ahead of it. Anyone with a valid ticket for the events in Buffalo will be welcomed inside for an unforgettable night - nobody will be turned away. Excited to boogie with you in July!"
