BUFFALO, N.Y. — For anyone who entered the Savannah Bananas draft lottery last year, Friday is a big day.
First, you needed to have entered a ticket lottery by Dec. 1 last year, just for the opportunity to buy tickets, and it was not a guarantee that you would be able to purchase tickets.
By the end of the today, however, there will be some clarity. The Bananas will send out emails, letting people know if they will have the chance to purchase tickets for a three-game "Banana Ball" series in July at Sahlen Field.
If your entry is drawn during Friday's ticket lottery, then you will receive another email on Monday "with an opportunity to purchase. If you're drawn, we'll communicate your exact time with you directly," the Bananas said.
The Bananas will visit 33 cities and 21 states on their 87-game "2024 Banana Ball World Tour."
They're not your traditional baseball team, and, as such, tickets aren't bought and sold in a standard way.
The first two Bananas games — Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6 — against a team called The Firefighters will be 7 p.m. starts at Sahlen Field. The Sunday finale begins at 1 p.m.
The first tickets that will go on sale Monday are "Open Seating."
"First come, first served seating in the stadium seating bowl. Unlimited dancing, great memories, and high fives. Open Seating tickets start at $35," according to the Bananas, who sent ticket hopefuls an email earlier this week.
When tickets for those seats start getting low, the Bananas will open "Upper Open Seating" tickets.
"When you receive the offer, you'll have access to the best available zone at that given moment," the team said.
