NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — Last week we reported on a stray dog in Newfane, a Town in Niagara County. The stray was seen roaming the area by locals and reported as alarmingly skinny, seeking help.
We have a happy update to share.
The Niagara SPCA and Sherlock Bones Lost 'N Hound Dog Recovery reassured those in the area that they were on the case to help rescue the stray.
As of Saturday, December 16 the dog now know as Hope, has been captured and is in good care at the shelter.
In a social media post made by the Niagara SPCA they wrote, "The SPCA's Hero of the Week Award goes to: Agent Burow and her long-game capture of the emaciated Shar-pei that's been spotted running loose in Newfane/Appleton over the last few weeks. She lays on the ground and offers a breaky sandwich- we're told this pupper is a super fan of sausage. It sure seems she was ready to stop running. Burow earns her trust and she doesn't fight capture. Today is the first day of the rest of 'Hope's' life."
People interested in seeing how the capture went can check out the social media post below:
Those looking to help Hope as she begins her new life can donate to her cause here. Donations will help the SPCA give her the medical care and attention she needs.
Since posting Hope's gofundme, donations have surpassed the groups goal of $2,500 for the good cause.
