LOCKPORT, N.Y. — New plans are in the works for one of the buildings damaged in a massive fire in Lockport a few years ago.
The deadly fire happened at the High Tread International facility, a tire shredding facility located at 490 Ohio Street in Lockport, back in 2016. The fire turned out to be arson, and it killed a 14-year-old boy.
2 On Your Side learned on Monday that the company is planning to turn the 17,000 square foot building into either a new manufacturing plant or storage facility.
"We're almost done with the design for the structure, at that point we can come back to the city and get a permit from that, and Derek can have his contractor reconstruct the shell of the building basically," said Timothy Arlington of Apex Consulting Survey & Engineering Services.
The goal is begin construction this spring once everything is approved.
