New information in Erie County deputy, wife prostitution scandal

Lancaster Police and Erie County Sheriff's Office give more insight into the prostitution scandal involving an Erie County Sheriff’s deputy and his wife.

LANCASTER, N.Y. — After speaking with the Lancaster Police Department and a spokesperson for the Erie County Sheriff's Office, we now know a little bit more about the incidents which lead to the arrest of an Erie County Sheriff's deputy and his wife on prostitution charges.

According to Lancaster Police Chief William Karn, it was back on August 16 that his officers arrested Melissa Waliczek in the Flix movie theater parking lot on Transit Road. Karn explained that his undercover detectives responded to an online advertisement for sex, and those investigators say Waliczek allegedly arranged a meet up in the parking lot.

Erie County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Scott Zylka says their human trafficking unit started investigating Melissa Waliczek's husband Wallace Waliczek after Lancaster investigators found additional evidence which pointed to his potential involvement.

Wallace Waliczek was immediately suspended without pay from his job as Erie County Sheriff's deputy on October 8, after his arrest for allegedly promoting prostitution.

Zylka told 2 On Your Side Wallace Waliczek had been assigned to the Jail Management System, which includes a number of units beyond the Erie County Holding Center.

"More charges may be coming," added Zylka, "but that's all I can say at this point."

According to authorities, both prostitution and promoting prostitution are misdemeanor offenses which will be handled in Buffalo City Court by a human trafficking judge.

Melissa Waliczek is scheduled to appear Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. Wallace Waliczek has not been arraigned yet. He's scheduled to appear before a judge on November 12.
