GOWANDA, N.Y. — A man, woman and a dog were rescued off a cliff by emergency personnel Thursday evening at Zoar Valley.
Multiple air and rope rescue crews teams had been on the scene since mid-afternoon.
A rescue team member said the woman had minor injuries and remained calm during the rescue. She was at the base of a cliff that was difficult to reach because of the tough terrain and was "well off any marked trail."
The man was found on the top of a gorge and was determined to be in "pretty good health," according to a rescue team member.
"It's very inhospitable terrain, very difficult even to get all-terrain vehicles in that area due to dense foliage and overgrowth," Erie County Deputy Sheriff Benjamin Pisa said. "And then obviously the elevation, with the different hills, so it was pretty difficult trekking and quite away from here as well."
A rescue team member told 2 On Your Side, "It was a good outcome, everyone out."
