Lovejoy man who pleaded guilty in son's death admits guilt in domestic violence incident

Joseph Conti has pleaded guilty to violating an order of protection and probation.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man who admitted causing a fire that led to his young son's death has now pleaded guilty in a domestic incident.

Joseph Conti, 55, pleaded guilty Monday to a single count of criminal contempt for blocking the driver side door of his estranged wife's vehicle in June, preventing her from attending church.

The Erie County District Attorney's office said by doing so, he knowingly violated a non-offensive order of protection.

At the time, Conti was on probation for his plea to criminally negligent homicide for the deadly fire on Gold St. in January 2018.

Conti faces a maximum of a year in jail when he's sentenced next month.
