BUFFALO, N.Y. - A Buffalo man was sentenced Thursday for starting a fire that killed his seven-year-old son.
Joseph Conti pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide back in August, admitting that he lit a cigarette with a blowtorch at his Lovejoy home back in January, and put the blowtorch on a mattress.
That started a fire that spread to the rest of the home and killed his son Anthony.
The judge sentenced him to five years probation. He could have received six months in jail.
