Town of Hamburg hosting meeting on wind storm damage, plans to help home and business owners

County, state and federal government representatives will be at the meeting Wednesday night.

HAMBURG, N.Y. — The Town of Hamburg is hosting an informational meeting to talk about damage from the Halloween wind storm and plans to protect lake shore homes and businesses in the future.

The meeting is scheduled for tonight at Hamburg Town Hall.

Representatives from Erie County, New York State, and the federal government will be there, including the Army Corps of Engineers.

Town Supervisor James Shaw said guests will give short presentations and talk about the possibility of assistance for property owners who had damage.

Hoover Beach was a particularly hard-hit area. Homes and businesses had significant damage to buildings and seawalls.

Shaw said the meeting will focus on what can be done to help those who suffered damage, coming up with a short-term plan to protect property near damaged seawalls and addressing a long-term plan to protect home and business owners along the lakefront.
