BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two words that bring such joy to children are "snow day."
The winter storms kept kids out of school and in the house all week. However, on Friday, they took over the sledding hill at Delaware Park for outdoor fun.
"I just like the snow. It's a break from having to sit in class online all day," friends Elias Slipko and Frances Horrigan told 2 On Your Side on Friday.
Kids are just being kids. It's a sight worth seeing. Nowadays, kids are hardly ever outside because they're too busy glued to screens.
"Every kid has it in them to go out and be active, especially with other kids their age. It's something as adults we need to encourage and foster," parent Larry Scott said.
He continued, "This is just beautiful. The way the snow is coming down. The hill is in great shape for kids to enjoy sledding."
And sledding is what they did. Thanks to the crew, Elias and Audrey Silpko, with Billy and Frances Horrigan, they took 2 On Your Side's Keelin Berrian sledding for the first time in his life.
Even parents got in on the action.
"It's really fun, especially after being bored in our house for so long. It's just fun to go down the hill and stuff," Audrey Slipko said.
