Dog survives Cattaraugus County house explosion

No one was at home at the time of the explosion, but a family dog was found alive under the debris.

ALLEGANY, N.Y. — Authorities are investigating an explosion that occurred on Monday just before 10 a.m. destroying a home in Cattaraugus County.

No one was at home at the time of the explosion, but a family dog was found alive under the debris of the home on West Branch Road in the Town of Allegany.

State Police say the cause of the explosion is believed to be a gas leak in the basement of the home.
