BUFFALO, N.Y. — Five people are being assisted by the Red Cross after a two-alarm fire broke out Sunday evening on Buffalo's west side.
Crews were called out just before 5 p.m. to a 2.5-story house on West Avenue.
Buffalo Fire says the blaze appeared to start on an upper floor, and the damage was estimated at $240,000.
A section of that street, at Massachusetts Avenue, was closed for some time and people were advised to avoid the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
