Bloodhound who served with Niagara County Sheriff’s Office dies

'JJ' was often used during criminal investigations and in searches for people who had gone missing.

LOCKPORT, N.Y. — A bloodhound who served 10 years with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office died on Monday.

Sheriff Jim Voutour announced bloodhound JJ's death on Tuesday.

JJ was bred, raised and trained by Special Deputy Joseph Moll. She was often used during criminal investigations and in searches for people who had gone missing.

JJ was named after Jeff Juron, a former Niagara County Sheriff's Office sergeant who died in December 2005.
