BUFFALO, N.Y. — An inmate being held at the Erie County Holding Center, who hanged himself Friday has been confirmed dead, according to the Buffalo News.
Robert Ingalsbe had been arrested Thursday on a warrant for second-degree robbery. Family members confirmed his death to the Buffalo News.
The Sheriff's office announced Ingalsbe's suicide attempt Saturday, without using his name. Sheriffs say Ingalsbe was found with a bed sheet tied around his neck, connected to the bars of his cell.
Ingalsbe's death makes him the fourth Erie County inmate to die there since July.
Sheriff Tim Howard's spokesman, Scott Zylka, would not confirm Ingalsbe's death with 2 on Your Side.
Erie County Legislature Chair, April Baskin came out Monday evening, criticizing Howard saying in part, "Four deaths in less than three months is an obscenity. The death of Robert Ingalsbe is further proof that Sheriff Howard is incapable of managing Erie County’s jail operations."
