BUFFALO, N.Y. — There will be an expanded partnership between Erie Community College and the Thurman Thomas Family Foundation.
It was just last year that the foundation announced a scholarship fund to support four disadvantaged students each year with full tuition.
This year six scholarships are being awarded at a cost of around $6,000 a year per scholarship.
"It gets better and better every year. We as a family want to continue this for the next 10, 15, 20 years, and I think in the city of Buffalo, we'll continue to do that," Thomas said.
The scholarships are for African-American students who graduate from a high school in Erie County and have a minimum 2.5 grade-point average.
