Western New York police warn of empty boxes tipping off thieves

Police advise you to break down all boxes and put them inside a covered recycling bin.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Now that Christmas has passed, Western New York police departments are alerting people about ways to keep theirs homes from being targeted by thieves.

Depew Police shared a post Thursday, reminding people not to leave boxes for things such as televisions and electronics in plain view out by the trash.

That's because it shows off what's now in your home.

Police advise you to break down all boxes and put them inside a covered recycling bin.
