Buffalo man surrenders himself to Town of Tonawanda Police

A Buffalo man has surrendered himself following his involvement in a shooting in the Town of Tonawanda.

TONAWANDA, N.Y. — A 42-year-old man has surrendered himself following his involvement in a shooting in the Town of Tonawanda. 

Joel A. Brown surrendered himself to Town of Tonawanda Police on the night of Tuesday, September 17. Brown had been involved in a shooting that happened on September 9 at 311 Kenmore Avenue. 

Crime Stoppers WNY had offered a reward of $2,500 on Tuesday for information regarding Brown's whereabouts that would lead to an arrest. 

Brown was arraigned in court before a Town of Tonawanda Judge and given the following charges:

  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class B violent felony
  • Assault in the First Degree, a class B violent felony 
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C violent felony
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor

He has since then been remanded to the Erie County Holding Center without bail. He returns back to court on Thursday, September 19 for a felony hearing.
