ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — A third inmate in the last month has been caught with contraband while leaving visitation hours at the Erie County Holding Center.
Most recently before Tuesday's incident at the Eric County Holding Center, drugs had been found in an inmate's prosthetic leg.
On Tuesday, following a contact visit, 19-year-old inmate Jameer Woods had dropped a yellow plastic bag out of his pant leg and onto the floor.
When an officer bent over to pick up the bag, Woods aggressively grabbed it, and a struggle ensued with the officer for possession. According to the Erie County officials, "he managed to secrete it into his person."
After a scan and search of Woods body, he turned over what was suspected to be K2 spice.
Officers later reviewed security footage that showed a Woods visitor, 19-year-old Dalas Calhoun, passing the contraband to him during their visit.
Since then Woods has been charged with possession of prison contraband in prison in the first degree, tampering with physical evidence, and obstruction of governmental administration.
Calhoun was charged with introduction of dangerous contraband into prison in the first degree.
Both are pending arraignment from this incident, and Woods is also awaiting trial on two separate counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
