Mayville Diner owner charged with arson

Michael S. Ellis of Mayville was arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua court and released on his own recognizance.

MAYVILLE, N.Y. — The owner of the Mayville Diner has been charged with arson.

A fire destroyed the diner on December 9.

Michael S. Ellis, 40, of Mayville is charged with Arson, third class C felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua court and released on his own recognizance.

The restaurant was a popular destination for locals for several years.
