BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo woman was sentenced to prison for fatally stabbing her boyfriend last year.
Teiyahna Bivens, 22, was sentenced Tuesday in Erie County Court to 4-12 years in prison. Bivens pleaded guilty in May to one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree.
Investigators say Bivens stabbed her boyfriend in the chest with a knife. The incident happened July 23, 2023 near Gerhardt and Northampton streets in Buffalo.
Micqueal Rogers, 23, was taken to ECMC, where he later died of his injuries.
Bivens was offered a plea to a reduced charge with consent from Rogers' family, so long as Bivens waived her right to a Penal Law § 60.12 hearing. That would have allowed Givens to argue she was a victim of domestic violence and should have a reduced sentence for her conviction.
