Buffalo Police provide update in fatal domestic incident

Megan Huttenlocker was fatally stabbed in a home on Ashland Avenue.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police have provided an update into the investigation of a fatal domestic incident that resulted in the death of two people.

On Saturday, police were called to a home on the 700 block of Ashland Avenue for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived on scene, they found a 24-year-old woman stabbed and slashed.  She was taken by ambulance to ECMC where she later died.

A short time later, Buffalo Firefighters were called to 62 Dash Street for a report of a fire. Firefighters arrived on scene and discovered a fire had started on the first floor of the home.  During their investigation, firefighters found a deceased male on the floor.  The 24-year-old male, later identified as Andrew Shipley, lived at that address.

Homicide detectives were able to connect the two incidents together, and said that the woman, Megan Huttenlocker, 24, and Shipley lived together and were in a relationship

Buffalo Police put out a release on Thursday saying that there was enough probable cause for Shipley to be charged with murder had he survived his injuries, but the case has been "cleared" due to his death.

His death is still under investigation, according to police.
