BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man was sentenced to 12 years in prison, months after a jury found him guilty on one count of felony robbery.
Jamarr Rainey, 23, was sentenced Wednesday in State Supreme Court, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office. He was found guilty following a five-day trial in September.
Prosecutors say that on November 23, 2018, Rainey displayed a gun before stealing a woman's gold necklace and driving away with her SUV, which had been parked on Cornwall Avenue in Buffalo.
Buffalo Police spotted Rainey and the stolen SUV three hours later on Parkside Avenue, where he stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers found the gold necklace in Rainey's jacket pocket after he was caught and searched on Woodward Avenue.
