BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man has been charged with trying to kill a witness in a homicide case, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office. The indictment was unsealed Tuesday afternoon.
Dayquain Trent, 28, also known as "Brazzy," is accused of tampering with a witness who was set to testify in a murder trial in October. The witness was shot on the morning of October 22, the same day he was set to testify.
Trent has been charged with one count of attempted murder in the second degree, one count of assault in the second degree, one count of tampering with a witness in the second degree, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
Trent is scheduled to return to court on December 11 for a pretrial conference. He faces a maximum of 25 years in prison if convicted.
