Batavia Police charge man after attempted armed robbery investigation

Police say the incident happened on New Year's Day on Bank Street. He is being held at the Genesee County Jail.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A man was arrested Wednesday in Batavia and charged with attempted robbery, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Batavia Police say that Daniel J. Lewis, 24, was arrested following an investigation into an attempted armed robbery on New Year's Day. They say he approached and grabbed another person, threatened that person with a knife and demanding property.

Police say the incident happened at night on Bank Street.

Lewis is being held at the Genesee County Jail.
