Game-winning blast by Bass sparks Ten Lives Club interest

The last time Ten Lives Club accepted donations in Tyler Bass' name came back in January. Now it's doing so again, but under much different circumstances.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The last time Ten Lives Club accepted donations to show support for Tyler Bass came back in January, following the Buffalo Bills' season-ending playoff loss.

Bass, who missed a late field goal, had received death threats, prompting Ten Lives Club to ask for $22 donations in his name — he wears No. 2. Bass has shown support for the nonprofit cat adoption group throughout his time in Buffalo.

Now Ten Lives Club is asking for donations, but under much different circumstances. Bass kicked a late 61-yard field goal as the Bills beat the Miami Dolphins 30-27 on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.

So now, Ten Lives Club is asking people to make $61 donations.

"Bass is today's Buffalo Bills hero! Tyler Bass was already our hero, and today he's a Buffalo Bills hero," Ten Lives Club posted on Facebook. "We are so proud of you Tyler! Our supporters have been reaching out and want to donate in Tyler’s name to celebrate! Go Tyler! Keep kicking Bass!"

The winter donations eventually led to a plans for new cat adoption center, named after Bass, in Blasdell.

"It is going to have a medical center, it's going to have a shop where you can buy everything you need for your new adoptive cat, of course there's going to be cats roaming around, free roaming rooms," Ten Lives Club public relations manager Kimberly LaRussa told 2 On Your Side back in May.

It wasn't a completely smooth Sunday for Bass, who missed a point-after try during the third quarter, prompting the Bills to go for 2 later in the game. But in the end, it worked out for Bass and the Bills.
