BUFFALO, N.Y. — The new cat adoption center in Blasdell that will bear Bills Kicker Tyler Bass' name will be a one-stop shop for prospective cat owners.
"It is going to have a medical center, it's going to have a shop where you can buy everything you need for your new adoptive cat, of course there's going to be cats roaming around, free roaming rooms," Ten Lives Club Public Relations Manager Kimberly LaRussa told 2 On Your Side.
Earlier this week, the adoption center and the Buffalo Bills announced plans for the new facility in a video attached below on social media.
"Tyler and his wife Ryan recently came to Ten Lives Club to get a tour of our facility, and that's where we told him and discussed that we would like to name our new building after him, and thank him and of course all the Bills fans and football fans around the world for their kindness." LaRussa said.
In January, Bills fans rallied around Bass after a missed kick in a playoff game by launching a giving campaign that would eventually raise more than $400,00 for the shelter, which he had done work with in the past.
"He was just so excited and he kept saying I'm so honored," LaRussa said. "It was really nice to see how passionate him and his wife are about cats."
The project will cost a total of $2.5 million, and the Bass family will now serve at honorary chairs of the campaign to raise the rest of the funding needed.
