HAMBURG, N.Y. — At the end of 2023, many people were both surprised and sad to hear of the closing of a Hamburg burger restaurant on Buffalo Street.
Juicy Burger Bar had first announced their closing on December 16 due to what they said was their lease being terminated, and the storefront already sold to another business.
But that was not the case according to the building's owner.
In a statement sent to 2 On Your Side, the property owner's attorney, Thomas D. Lyons, said:
"Juicy’s lease for the space it occupies ended as of March 31, 2023. Bearing that in mind, the decision to end Juicy’s continued occupancy effective December 31, 2023, was made only after Juicy (a) rejected new-lease offers from my client; and (b) failed to pay the full amount due for its use and occupancy of the space (including failing to make any payment for multiple months since April 1, 2023)."
This brought up many questions from the community to which Juicy did not address when asked for further comment by the 2 On Your Side Team.
In January, the restaurant posted on social media that Juicy is back up and running, but in a little bit more lowkey way.
On January 30, the restaurant had posted to their social media that they would be doing pop-up takeout at another Hamburg restaurant located on Buffalo Street, called Carte Blanche.
They began doing pop-in orders in mid-February as well.
People hoping to have a Juicy Burger Bar burger can once again by ordering on Sundays and Mondays from noon to 8p.m. when they pop-in to Carte Blanche.
It has also been revealed that taking over their former location will be another burger restaurant popularly know as Mister Sizzle's. This will be Mister Sizzle's third WNY location following the news of their Clarence location in the works too.
