LEROY, N.Y. — An injured bald eagle is recovering after being spotted by state officials in Genesee County.
A New York State Department of Environmental Conservation officer called the Thruway Authority back on Aug. 28, asking for help with an eagle found in the Town of LeRoy. A state trooper who assisted at the scene located the bird, then distracted it, allowing the Environmental Conservation officer to cover the eagle with a blanket.
"The two officers then secured the eagle’s talons and placed it safely in a pet carrier for transport to Messinger Woods Wildlife Care and Education Center in Holland, Erie County, for treatment," the DEC said Thursday in a newsletter.
