Daniel Baldwin hoping to recruit Jim Kelly for a cameo in Buffalo-based mafia series

Actor jokes that he wants to 'kill' his quarterback friend in an episode of the show

BUFFALO, N.Y. — While some things are still up in the air for the mafia TV series set in Buffalo, which begins filming this month, actor Daniel Baldwin is already signed on to play one of the lead roles.

Baldwin's family has strong ties to Upstate and Central New York. He lives outside of Syracuse, and he is excited for the opportunity to show off the region he calls home in "For Nothing," which is hoping to get picked up by one of the major streaming platforms.

Another thing tying Baldwin to the region is his close friendship with Bills' Hall of Fame Quarterback Jim Kelly.

"My greatest love in Buffalo is for Jim Kelly," the actor told 2 On Your Side over the phone. "He is a good friend, he is somebody who is a hero to me, and way beyond anything he ever did on a football field.  As a man, as a survivor, as an advocate for children and charities in Buffalo and Central New York. As a husband and a dad."

Baldwin is even hoping to facilitate a cameo for Kelly in the series, if it gets picked up for more episodes. However, the scenario he's picturing may be questionable to the Hall of Famer.

"I am going to somehow figure out a way to kill Jim Kelly in a violent gun battle in that show, watch," Baldwin promised, through laughter. "Listen. He'll show up just for the sake of showing up. He's a good man. I've got to figure out, someway. He's going to be the snitch that I get him, or something. Watch."

No word from Jim Kelly yet if he is interested in participating in the series.
