BUFFALO, N.Y. — The quiet and warmer than average weather pattern is breaking down late this week and lasting into the weekend.
Starting with this week, we will still be warm through Wednesday with just a few showers, until a complex system brings steadier rain for later Wednesday night and into Thursday, with colder air coming in as well. A rain and snow mix is expected for the higher terrain mainly with a change over to snow briefly overnight with a coating of slushy snow possible by morning.
Friday and Saturday look to have rain and snow with a change over to all snow possible overnight and early morning for the hills of Wyoming County, as well as the Southern Tier counties. With some minor snow accumulations potentially there even a decent chance of a couple inches of heavy slushy snow especially for the higher terrain for late Thursday night into Friday morning, and lower chance again for Friday night into Saturday morning. Any possible snow should melt during the afternoon.
Storm Team 2 is tracking this system closely and will continue to bring updates as needed, as there are still some uncertainties with the development of the system's strength and just how much cold air will be associated with it locally.
Also, we are watching a couple potential systems during Thanksgiving week and into the long holiday weekend as well. 'Tis the season.
Stay tuned to Storm Team 2 for the latest updates.
